Overview

The Slack integration allows you to create, manage, and track bounties without leaving your workspace. Post bounties in channels, receive notifications, and approve submissions—all from Slack.

Prerequisites

  • A bounty.new account
  • Admin access to your Slack workspace

Installation

Add bounty.new to Slack

Visit the bounty.new Slack app and click Add to Slack.

Authorize the app

Review the permissions and click Allow to authorize bounty.new.

Configure your workspace

Select the channels where you want to enable bounty creation and notifications.

Creating bounties from Slack

Use the /bounty command to create a new bounty:
/bounty create "Fix login bug" $500

Command options

  • /bounty create [title] [amount] - Create a new bounty
  • /bounty list - View all active bounties
  • /bounty status [id] - Check bounty status
  • /bounty approve [id] - Approve a submission

Notifications

You’ll receive Slack notifications for:
  • New submissions on your bounties
  • Status updates on bounties you’re working on
  • Payment confirmations
  • Comments and questions
Configure notification preferences in your bounty.new dashboard under Settings > Integrations > Slack.

Managing bounties

Viewing submissions

When someone submits work for your bounty, you’ll receive a message with:
  • Submission details
  • Quick approve/reject buttons
  • Link to view full submission

Approving work

Click Approve in the notification or use:
/bounty approve [submission-id]
The payout will be processed instantly.

Troubleshooting

Ensure the bounty.new app is added to the channel. Type /invite @bounty.new to add it.
Check your notification settings in the bounty.new dashboard and ensure the app has permission to send messages.
